Morganville, NJ, July 26, 2016: Executive Director Joseph Occhipinti announced the posting of the $10,000 Safe Cop Reward in connection with the fatal shooting of Travis County Sheriff Sergeant Craig Hutchinson who was shot and killed on July 25, 2016 at Round Rock, Texas by unknown suspect when he interrupted a burglary in progress.
Sergeant Hutchinson had served with the Travis County Sheriff’s Office for 32 years and was scheduled to retired in two months.
The posting of the $10,000 Safe Cop reward was predicated upon a formal request from the Travis County Sheriff’s Office to post the reward in hopes of securing public information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.
According to NPDF Executive Director, “It is critical that we seek the help of that community to help bring to justice the perpetrator who saw fit to kill a dedicated law enforcement official”.
The Safe Cop program is a congressionally recognized law enforcement initiative of the National Police Defense Foundation that posts up to a $10,000 reward for public information leading to the arrest and conviction of any person who shoots at a law enforcement officer, anywhere in the United States.

The Safe Cop program was established in 1995 and has been instrumental in the arrest and conviction of several cop killers nationwide.
