The Honorable Guy V. Molinari, a former U.S. Congressman, Borough President of Staten Island, a political power house in New York politics and U.S. Marine died on July 25, 2018 at the golden age of 89 years old.
Mr. Molinari during his long-term career as an elected official was always a fervent supporter of law enforcement that gained their respect and affection.
In 1991, Mr. Molinari and his investigative team helped expose the suspected drug cartel conspiracy against retired Federal Agent Joseph Occhipinti who was prosecuted for civil rights violations while investigating a drug cartel. Due to the efforts of Mr. Molinari he influenced former U.S. President George H.W Bush to grant that agent Executive Clemency.
According to NPDF Founder & Executive Director Joseph Occhipinti, “Through his example, Guy gave me the inspiration to help other dedicated law enforcement officers who may have been falsely accused. It was that inspiration that led me to establish the National Police Defense Foundation in 1995. He was my angel, hero and friend who will be truly missed”.
Mr. Molinari was survived by his daughter former U.S. Congressman Susan Molinari, his son-in-law Bill Paxon and two granddaughters Susan and Katherine Mary Paxon.
