NPDF officials are cautioning consumers not to book travel or vacation packages with an Expedia representative from a foreign country. There are serious concerns in providing credit card information in certain countries known for identity fraud. It is recommended to speak instead to a U.S. representative. Also, due to the difficulty in speaking to a foreign representative that results in an alleged material misrepresentation or data input error, the consumer is often charged a penalty to correct Expedia’s mistake. A final concern is when a dispute occurs, there is difficulty in contacting their corporate offices in the U.S. to rectify the problem.
