| A Message from the FLEOA
National Retirement Director
I present to you a serious and consequential question. Can you help a 19-year-old boy who is in urgent need of a liver transplant?
We received this request from a fellow 30-year FLEOA member, a retired HSI /ICE/Customs LEO, who is asking on behalf of his grandson, Domenic Steinmark. Domenic was diagnosed with an aggressive form of Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC) at age 15. A long-term progressive disease of the liver and gallbladder, there is currently no effective medical treatment to halt the progression of PSC. Now 19, Domenic is in urgent need of a liver transplant.
Domenic is currently in college studying business and finance. He would have started his Junior year this fall but doctors told him not to return to school because of his condition. When in high school, Domenic played baseball as a pitcher and first baseman. His grandfather says he is a good kid. He has a birthday coming up in September. What a gift it would be for him to receive the rest of his life.
For the possible donor:
· Needs to be Type O blood
· The donation is a partial liver transplant
· From a living donor
· All procedure expenses paid by insurance
· Procedure will occur in NYC
If you are interested and able to be a donor, please contact the hospital representative, Jennica Kim, directly at:
Telephone: 646-962-GIFT / 646-962-4438
Email: jyk9004@nyp.org
Thank you for your consideration.
R,
Joe Bertoldi
