Christopher Santangelo is a veteran federal law enforcement professional with more than 27 years of investigative experience. Throughout his distinguished career, he has served in multiple federal agencies, specializing in financial crime, fraud, and national security investigations.
About Christopher Santangelo
SSA Christopher Santangelo (FDIC-OIG) retired has over 27 years of law enforcement experience. Santangelo began his career in 1997 as a patrol officer in the United States Park Police before joining the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms 2000 as a criminal investigator. In 2002, Santangelo became and special agent for the US. Department of Agriculture, Office of Inspector General (USDA-OIG) and in 2017, Santangelo left the USDA-OIG and became an agent for the FDIC. In 2022, Santangelo was promoted to an SSA at the FDIC.
Over his career, Santangelo has investigated a large array of crimes including narcotics, counter-terrorism, violent crime, government program fraud, white collar and financial institution fraud.
Santangelo holds an Associate of Applied Science from Kingsborough Community College in Accounting, a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Brooklyn College and a Master’s of Science from John Jay College in Protection Management. Santangelo is also a certified fraud examiner.
Santangelo has received multiple commendations and awards for outstanding service highlighted by Agent of the Year from the FDIC, the Assistant Attorney General award for Exceptional Service and as a recipient of the Council of Inspector General on Integrity and Efficiency award of Excellence. Santangelo is currently employed as a Director, Anti-Fraud for a Global bank.
Santangelo is a survivor of the September 11 Terrorist Attacks on the World Trade Center and in the aftermath worked recovery efforts at the Staten Island Landfill. Since 2009, Santangelo is also a Vice President for the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Foundation. In 2024, Santangelo was voted member emeritus of the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association. Santangelo and his wife currently reside in Suffolk County, New York
